"The cure for everything is always salt water: sweat, tears or the sea."
This quote from the Danish writer Isak Dinesen is what marked the choreographer Alex Soares to start the creative process of Maradentro (sea inside), a work with which he will debut with Chilean National Ballet.
It is a piece inspired by water, however, Soares clarifies that "I did not want it to be used only as rain, river or something like that." Thus, Dinesen's appointment made him think of the so-called "ocean feeling", a term proposed by Romain Rolland and then deepened by who is considered the father of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud. The concept refers to the perception that the boundaries between the individual and the world are diluted for an instant. "I think that all people ever experience that feeling of being part of a whole, of something much bigger," explains the choreographer.
